Thought for the week
Where is hell and how do we get out of it? How can we turn our hell into heaven? For a lot of people this life can be hell and for most of us it will feel like hell at sometimes in our lives. We can have a very serious issue to deal with or we can have a whole series of problems coming from different areas in our lives. This can cause us to feel like we are living in hell. Can we find our way out of hell into heaven? Is there a magic key which will open the prison of hell and allow us to enter into heaven?
Where is hell? A person viewing our life may see our situation as uncomfortable or inconvenient. They probably can't see that we are in hell. Hell is within us. It is an inner feeling. This feeling is coming from the way we view our life and also our attitude and expectations. As it is an inner feeling, are there ways we can control it or at least lessen its influence on us? Here a a few keys we can try-
Give love
While we are going through this feeling of being in hell we can often feel unloved, forgotten and unappreciated. It is a hard place to be and often requires a persistent struggle to get out of it. The old saying “To get love you must first give love” holds true, especially when we going through difficulties.
If we are in pain or anger, those feelings can be picked up by others on a subconscious level. They just get the feeling of our unhappiness and stay clear. If we can manage to do some act of kindness or love, our attitude will change. The love we are giving to another touches us as it is passed to them. Their attitude also changes when they see that we have some love to offer. The whole situation changes. Doing something for love, is one key which can help us move from hell into heaven.
Count our blessings
Where is hell? It is often in our worries and problems. As our problems mount up it can seem like our world is getting darker and darker. One of the lights we can us to brighten ourselves is to count our blessings. We can do this mentally but writing it out on a sheet of paper works much better. The act of writing helps to bring the idea of the blessing into a solid physical form. There are any number of things we can count as blessings:
Our health, we can still breath, walk, feel, stand, see, talk, eat and drink.
We have friends, family, pets, plants, books, music, the radio, work, a hobby, interests, TV, films, theatre and more.
We also have food, water, shelter, heat, electricity, phones, cars, technology and lots of modern conveniences.
As we look around us we can see the environment, the city, the country, forests, rivers, the sun, the clouds, plants and the many wonders of the natural world.
All these things bring some blessings into our lives. Our lives would be a darker place without them. If we can focus on these little blessings for a while, our problems will lessen and we may have found another key to a way out of the hell.
Live in the moment
One thing we notice about problems, is that they are usually in the future or in the past. Where is hell? It is often in the way we think about problems and challenges. If they are with us here and now we just deal with them as best we can. If we are worried about issues from the past or the future we are not dealing with something here and now, they are in our mind. If we can move our focus to where we are at this moment, the problems lessen in intensity.
A friend recently explained it this way. If we have some dishes, plates, cups and glasses sitting on a kitchen table, we don't have a problem. If one falls off the table, we do have a problem which needs attention, a broken dish. We can now deal with the problem by cleaning it up. If we are worried that something might fall off the table, we have a worry or a problem. This is something within our mind, it is not real. We are creating a fear in our mind. This situation may or may not happen in the future, but it is not here now, it is not real.
If there is a possibility of preventing the crockery from falling from the table, we should do what we can now. Where is hell in this story? It is in the worry about something falling off the table. We can sit and watch the table in anticipation of when the dreaded moment arrives, when something could fall from the table. We are in hell waiting for this moment. If we didn't have this fear in our mind, we could be in heavenly peace and not in the worrisome hell. If something falls and breaks, we deal with it then and try and make sure it won't happen again. We learn how to make it right.
If we can avoid our fearful thoughts of what might happen and live in the moment, we will have a more heavenly life and we have found another key to heaven.
HU Song
A technique which has proved successful for many people is the HU Song. It is a key to heaven and can move us there in moments. Firstly take a few deep breaths and on your outgoing breath sing the word HU, pronounced like 'hue'. With your eyes closed, watch for lights on your inner screen and listen for sounds or music from within yourself. In your mind think of someone or something you love, something that warms your heart. This can often lead us into a relaxed contemplative state where we may get insights into the issues in our lives. It can also bring us to a state of peace. HU is a sound from heaven, where we are as Soul. As Soul we are a happy and loving being and by connecting with this part of ourselves we bring some of that happiness and love into our outer life. It is a great way to move our focus to the positive view of life and very soon we won't be thinking of where is hell as we will be moving away from it.

Where is hell?
So where is hell in reality? It is really within ourselves, in our thoughts, fears and worries. Hell is in the mental habits we have developed over our lives which lead us into worry and fear. Where is hell? It is in our worries, fears and negative way of thinking but we now have a few keys to help us out of this hell. As we discussed above they are:
Give Love - The love we are giving to another touches us as it is passed to them.
Count our Blessings – There are so many things which bring some blessings into our lives.
Live in the Moment - If we can avoid our fearful thoughts and live in the moment, we will have a more heavenly life.
HU Song - It can also bring us to a state of peace.
If you feel like you are locked in hell, you now have some keys to help you get out but it's up to you to use them.
See you in heaven :-)
