Thought for the WeekContinuing
our chat from last week, where we discussed that Spirit, the Life Force, God or whatever name suits you, is part of our lives and maintains the stars, our planet, the human race, and our body systems.
It seems obvious that we humans can not claim responsibility for any of these magnificent elements which help maintain the worlds we live in. We are just here for a short while to play our part.
Look at nature
If we look at nature to see how things work, like:
The seas, rivers, clouds, the Weather,
Plants, growth, germination,
Animals, Birds, Insects, Reptiles, Bacteria.
Let’s just look at one element of nature, water. Water is usually in constant change and goes through several processes.
It begins in the oceans,
When it’s heated it forms clouds,
The clouds rain on the land.
The rain forms rivers.
The rivers water the land.
Animal, birds, insects, plants and humans drink the water to stay alive.
For us humans, the water is an essential element in the make up of our tissue, skin, muscle, blood, etc. A similar process occurs in animals, birds, insects and plants. It becomes part of the organisms which absorb it, allowing them to grow and live their lives.
Whatever way we look at all these different elements and systems in ourselves, in life around us and in life way beyond us, there is no way we can say, we are the ones who created them. We can’t even claim control over our own bodies. If we could we would prevent them from aging, be able to kick start our heart if it stopped, be able to control the amount of weight we allow on to our body. There must be something else running our world, call it Spirit, the Life Force, God or whatever suits you, but there is definitely something more powerful, more loving than us humans, running our worlds.
Spirit maintains our worlds
This Spirit has given us our world, our human race, our community, our family, our human body so we can discover who and what we really are. It is the love of Spirit which keeps our worlds in place, keeps our bodies working, keeps nature running, keeps the weather operating, maintains the planets and universes. Spirit sustains our worlds so that we can discover ourselves, discover that we are a part of that Divine essence, a part of Spirit, we are Soul.
We are each individual. Each of us is unique despite the fact that there may be six and half billion humans on this planet and probably billions more on other planets orbiting around the stars we see in the night sky. We have been given the opportunity to live and learn n this world. While living here, we learn about interacting with each other, using our will, our gifts, our talents, our bad habits, our evil tendencies, our power, our passions. We have the freedom to do as we wish but we must also reap the benefits and results of our actions. That is, if we do something good and beneficial to others, we will receive a return of similar benefit. If we do something evil or misguided we will suffer a similar deed to ourselves. This is often referred to as the law of karma.
Discover the spiritual side of our lives
In the process of using and abusing our freedom, doing good and bad deeds we learn what is good for us and those around us. We learn slowly over many lifetimes how to do things better. We learn how life works, how we need to act in order to have a happy life. As we progress we begin to see that we are an individual, like all the other individuals around us. We then see that Spirit is maintaining our worlds so that we can learn about ourselves. Then we begin to explore the worlds of Spirit, what it is, how it works and our part in its world. We discover the spiritual side of our lives.
We eventually realise how Spirit communicates with us. We see that our good and bad deeds bear the fruit of the seeds we’ve sown. We begin to see that there is more to life than forcing our will to get the things we desire. We learn that Spirit keeps all our deeds and the deeds of all other Souls, in balance.
What life is aboutOnce we grasp this idea we begin to see what life is about. That we are here to:
Realise we are in the worlds of Spirit.
Discover we are Soul, a unique and individual part of God or Spirit.
Learn about the love of Spirit, which maintains us and our worlds.
See Spirit in our lives.
This is not an easy task and it’s not meant to be. Our worlds are designed to keep us busy doing stuff and distracting us from our goal of discovering who we really are.
Let’s go for the goal of seeing Spirit in our lives.
