Thought for the Week -
Have you ever thought of helping your guardian Angel or Inner Guide?
I don’t have any recall of ever being told “Do this” or “Do that”. I think we are given opportunities to give love or give service to others as we go through life.
Last week I was going through a shopping centre on my way to meet my friends in about ten minutes. I passed a crying child of about seven years old. I looked back at the little boy and saw he was getting distressed.
I decided that I had enough time to help this child. I asked him what was wrong “I can’t find my Mom”. Where was she last “She was in this shop but she’s gone”. I told him I’d try and help him find his mother. We went down past a few shops and asked one of the store security guys to help. He very skilfully chatted with the boy and went off in the direction we had come from to search for the child’s mother. The security guy assured me they would be able to reunite the child with his mother.
Was that situation presented to me by my Inner Guide or was it a coincidence? I don’t believe in coincidences, so this situation was put in my path, to see if I was as caring a person as I’d sometimes like to think I am. I may have passed the test, this time, but what about helping that woman on to the bus, or leaving room for the car to pull out in front, or keeping my mouth shut when I have the words to cut a person’s argument in shreds?
There are certainly enough opportunities to use love rather than power but it’s not easy to make the right choice. By doing these services of love, are we really doing something for our Inner Guide or Guardian Angel? If we do perform the service, we are the ones who benefit. We get the love flowing through us, we get the good karma and we get closer to heaven.
So by helping our Guardian Angel or Inner Guide we are really helping ourselves. It’s a win win situation for everyone involved.
